Electric Shaver

Sometimes, when we are in a rush or just too sleepy in the morning but still want to shave, using the ordinary pisau cukur with blades is not a good option kerana ada kemungkinan boleh menyebabkan kecederaan. Maklumlah, tengah mamai-mamai. Lagipun, ordinary pisau cukur biasanya kita gunakan dalam toilet bersama-sama shaving gel. 

Saya mula berjinak dengan electric shaver ini before tahun 2010 lagi bagaimana pilihan saya ketika itu tidak berapa memuaskan, mungkin kerana saya beli some low spec shaver. Seingat saya brand Panasonic. I totally forgot the spec except some distance memory regarding my first electric shaver. 

Then I stopped using the shaver as I saw using ordinary pisau cukur is much more cleaner but I've been through times where it is difficult to find the blade replacement. So in 2015, again I bought the Phillips Aquatouch AT 610. 

It was a dry/wet shaver which can be used during shower. Jenis rotary which is described by groomandstyle.com as 

Rotary shavers usually have either three of four rotating heads. They’re particularly good for guys with thick or fast-growing hair, which tends to grow in lots of different directions.  Rotary shavers also have a slight advantage if you don’t intend to shave every day.

They work by lifting the hair away from the face and cutting it inside one of the rotating components. Ideally, you’ll want to look for one with a flexible head, so that you can reach all of the nooks and crannies on your face.

When shaving with a rotary shavers you move it in a circular motion on your face.

Malangnya, bulan lepas, tanpa sebarang tanda-tanda, shaver ini gagal dihidupkan dan lampu led nya menyala. Saya cuba charge shaver ini tetapi tetap sama. Sedikit maklumat diperolehi dari Google showed that my loyal shaver dah kaput. Nak ke center pun satu hal juga sebab lokasi center di PJ dan masa yang suntuk menjadikannya agak sukar untuk kesana. So, kembalilah saya ke pisau cukur. 

Beberapa hari lepas, finally ada budget lebih and I rushed to AEON to buy my new electric shaver which is the Panasonic ES-SL 41R which is also a dry/wet shaver and cordless rechargeable shaver. Sebelum ini saya memang ada satu nose trimmer Panasonic ERGN-30 which I bought from the official Panasonic Online Store and I am so satisfied with the quality.

When I got my Panasonic ES SL 41R for RM 268, the first thing yang saya perasan is the size is smaller than my previous Aquatouch. This new shaver is not rotary but foil shaver with a built in trimmer. My previous Aquatouch does not have a trimmer.

So, as my new shaver is foil, my shaving style must differ a bit from my previous Aquatouch. Again, according to groomandstyle.com,

Foil shavers feature a thin layer of foil which covers the oscillating blades — this has two purposes. The first, is to help lift the hair away from the skin to that it can be cut neatly and closely. The second, is to limit blade-on-skin contact, making foil shavers somewhat kinder to your face than rotary shavers.

Foil shavers usually come in either three or four-blade varieties. A four-blade foil shaver will shave you faster and closer than a three-blade shaver.

When shaving with a foil shaver you move it in straight lines on your face.

groomandstyle.com also says that guna rotary in advantage dia ialah great for fast growing facial hair and thick dan juga sesuai untuk mereka yang tak suka shave everday. Advantage foil pula ialah ia it is kinder to the skin, more close shave dan juga shaving lebih precise.

After few days guna my new Panasonic, in terms of skin irritation, memang kurang compare to during my first few weeks guna Aquatouch. Dari segi close shave, tak nampak banyak beza sebab maybe range harga kedua-duanya berada dalam kategori lower-medium end. 

Sebenarnya terdapat pelbagai lagi shaver yang lebih bagus dan mahal tetapi I need to adjust my needs according to my wallet. Electric Shaver seperti Braun memang tak berapa mampu lagi especially bila browsing through electric shaver, I found out that electric shave ada yang harga ribu-ribu not only for Braun but also Philips and Panasonic too.

So the bottom line is, it does serve me well but sometimes I need to spend 5-10 minutes untuk dapatkan shave yang lebih licin and this applies to both old and my new shaver. Compare to a minute or two with the ordinary blade.
